This Autumn NetworkRail are completing essential bridge and track renewals between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton to ensure the continued safe and reliable running of the railway.
The programme includes the refurbishment of Huntspill viaduct which involves the removal of the track and ballast before cleaning and waterproofing.
Main contractor Morgan Sindall have selected Metrail Construction to carry out the important task of waterproofing the bridge deck before the track is reinstated.
The work, which will start on Sept 18, involves laying approximately 450m2 of HYTEC waterproofing membrane. HYTEC is supplied by GCP (formerly Stirling Lloyd) and is a loose laid, flexible, polypropylene sheet waterproofing membrane. Joints are completed by heat welding.
Metrail is one of a limited number of companies licensed to supply and instal GCP products including the Eliminator waterproofing system, Sentinel bridge deck expansion joints and the HYTEC waterproofing membrane.
