Abbeywood is the last station at the eastern end of the massive Crossrail project across London.
Abbeywood station has been completely refurbished as part of the project which has meant that the supporting road infrastructure around the station has also had to be upgraded.
Bexley Council awarded this refurbishment contract to F M Conway who selected Metrail Construction to carry out bridge deck waterproofing and to replace all the expansion joints on the elevated road structure adjacent to the station.
The Metrail scope included 2000m2 of Eliminator bridge deck waterproofing, 72m of Type 6 EMR joints and 86m of plug joints.
Metrail employed a team of highly experienced personnel to make sure that all the work was carried out to exacting quality standards.
Metrail maintains an excellent relationship with the main contractor F M Conway as their subcontractor of choice for concrete repair, waterproofing and joints.
The project was completed on time and on budget.
